Wiring up an LED light

As I said, in practice the only alternative (to 'trying' the above) is to do nothing, and hence accept that UK purchasers might be subjected to unsafe imports. Is that what you feel we should do?
We could try a few prosecutions of purchasers for importing dodgy products, pour encourager les autres...

You might just as well ban all imports of anything by individuals (maybe also all but the largest of wholesalers/traders) - since the average member of the public (or small-scale importers) simply cannot be expected to be able to ascertain whether a particular product is 'dodgy', particularly before they have even seen/handled it.

In context, in the face of reassuring words and alleged "Safty Certificates" (sic) from the supplier, not to mention the high price, I would suspect (hope) that a Court would feel that a member of the public had done all that could be reasonably expected of them to satisfy themselves that the product was not 'dodgy'.

A friend bought a couple of light fittings (just pendants, but all "chrome" finish) a while back and asked me to fit them. They had DI (or insulated & sheathed) clear cable like that and a metal cover that fitted to a metal plate screwed to the ceiling. The instructions were to "wrap the terminal block with several layers of insulation tape to maintain the DI" (or something to that effect).
No, I wasn't happy leaving it at that either

Hmmm. Do I take it that the instructions had nothing to say about what one should do with the CPC of the feed cable?
