Would Ireland leave the EU in a free trade deal with us?

Anyway, the Irish have never helped us.
About 15 years ago I fixed a boiler for a lovely old couple in Tufnell Park.
I got to know them well over time.
They were involved in quite “secretive” opps during ww2. They couldn’t stand the Irish & told me a lot of unknowns about them. A little taster for you...... the Irish willingly refueled German U boats.
Nice... never trust an Irishman,
Field Marshal Montgomery's father was Irish as were a lot of other field Marshals including the Chief of the imperial staff Alanbrooke.
Churchill obviously trusted trusted these people to lead the British army against the Germans.

The EU looks after its members, and will protect Irelands interests.

and you know what Joe Biden said.

The Brexer government would be foolish to make more enemies.

Oh...

Yes.

Boris.
Ireland's interests would be best served by recognising that Geographically Ireland is part of the British Isles and join some sort of free trade arrangement with the UK.

Err Geographically NI is part of the island of Ireland.

Republic of Ireland is in the EU with frictionless access to worlds biggest customs union

NI stays in EU regulatory jurisdiction and aligned to Single Market for goods.

If we get the hoped for no deal

You haven't twigged the UKs biggest trade partner by a country mile is the EU.
It has the worlds biggest customs union and it's on our doorstep.

So why would you hope for Nissan Sunderland closing etc etc

My understanding is 60% of NI exports come to GB

RoI biggest export destination is USA

I think the 10% figure in the article you link is total goods from Island is Ireland to UK.

Obviously Digby Jones is a massive liar.....but then he is a brexit gammon
Yep, but since this thread is about how the ROI will want to cling to it's biggest trade partner which was supposed to be the UK, it seems to be a thread based on a false premise.

Especially since NI is going to remain within the EU single market.

Thank you for you anti-Brexit post.

Yes indeed, I was trying to clarify what the misleading figures are based on.

The idea RoI will leave and join the UK is for the birds.
