Yet another 2W lighting conundrum (and why I don't like domestics again)

I'm using a PC. The link I see is:

Maybe it's just too long for some computers...

That's ridiculous, it was taken on my phone, plugged into the PC and 'saved as' then opened, copied and pasted into the post.

The image problem, which several of us experienced is (on this occasion) restricted (at least for me) to just the one post (from you), which I think makes it much more likely that the problem was in your message - as Detlef said, perhaps that very lengthy url.

I assume you are right, except that all I did was a copy and paste, as I've done many many times. On that basis I assume that there has been a change in software (site or mine) or there was a glitch.
I've never really given a thought to how material appears in the posts but it seems images, when pasted, are stored elsewhere and not directly in the posts file.
The other day I posted an Ebay link which was just as massive and not everyone could see it.

I wonder what you are copying and pasting from, and how you are getting to the link that you posted.

Do you realise that, for example, if you click on one of the early hits in an Google search which has a little "Ad" in a square box beside it, the 'url' you are sent to is an incredibly complicated url, far more lengthy/complicated than the actual url of the site you have been directed to. For example, a search for "Microwave" results in a couple of early hits for Currys, one with, and one without the "Ad". The one without the "Ad" sends you to this fairly manageable url:

https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/house...rowaves/335_3152_32014_xx_xx/xx-criteria.html

... but if one clicks on the one with the "Ad", although one gets to a similar Curry's web page, the url one is sent to is ...

... I imagine that this is probably related in some fashion to the way in which Google makes money

It's not the URL, thé problem is that it's an image from an email or similar which requires you to be logged in to your Google account for obvious reasons.
Presumably rather than the system copying the image itself it actually copied a reference to the original, which Google rightly blocks us from,

Presumably the other browser that had never been on diynot also happened to be logged into the Gmail account.
I usually use an incognito window to check these things as they are not logged into anything when your first open them.

What you write makes perfect sense... Except I've just got a friend to look, on a different wifi and he doesn't have my google login. He coul see it when he logged into diynot from a Mac but not his PC...

That's reassuring, just after i typed that out i thought there's no chance of anyone getting what I'm on about!

Your friend has hacked your email! Or was it them who forward it to you?

As I said before: I took the pic on my phone, plugged the phone into my laptop, saved the pic on my laptop, opened it, copy & paste on the forum post.
My pics are saved on the SD card and backed up to google but I don't access my google via the phone & usb.
I have never used my friends PCs to log into my gmail or even used his wifi. He had to login to the forum to see the pics.

in that case I've no idea! Photos backup to google shouldn't be accessible to your friend unless you've shared them. Could be caching but you'd expect google to get that right.
