watching a news item ,on morning tv, saying that there is a move for zero tolerance on drink drive, this xmass which i though and agree with was all year round, ;) ,but then they said they were going to change the law so you could have no alcohol in your blood at all.which would mean you could not have a thimbil full or even teaste alcohol, all us old guys wont be able to have a night nurse before bed  i wish ;) if u have a good night sleep and some food and hot drinks would u still fail the test the next day

Although I agree with too much alchohol affectng one's ablites to drve safely, this rulng is takng the law one step further to being discriminating, as all are suffering for the few of the population that cannot handle alchohol in their bloodstreams.

what about alchohol based deoderant being absorbed into the bloodstream will that be enough to convict? The "Drinks" Effect.

its like many things in life the few make it hard for the many :( then the do gooders get involved  and we all suffer proabition is on its way, solve the drink problem by opening more pubs but dont let them sell alcohol  it would keep the kids of the streets :)

What we need is targeted breath tests whereby Police set up just round the corner from a pub and catch the rat-runners. The legal amount in the body should be reduced to about .02%

wots the % now joe  ithink we should keep the status quo its work for 40 years ,drop it wont stop d/d it will just put more at risk of loosing there jobs and licence and we will have a bigger bill from benifits office, its ok they way it is. ;) if its not broke dont fix it

I can't see a problem of discrimination, Tim.

If everybody is subject to zero tolerance, surely there isn't any discrimination.

I don't have a problem with the idea at all. There would have to be a tolerance to allow for the naturally occuring alcohols in the body.

It wouldn't quite be ZT, but I would be happy to make alternative arrangements if I went out drinking.

I've been doing it all my life. I never drive if I've drunk anything at all, and always ensure 12 hours have passed after my last drink before driving.

And it's easy. When you've been dong it this long, it's not a problem. It's only those who do drive after drinking who think it will be inconvenient.

Spare a thought for this girl:

too much alcohol affecting one's abilities to drive safely

It's not a question of too much. Even small amounts of alcohol consumed can impair ability behind the wheel.

We all know accidents are all too frequent without alcohol in the equation. Why do anything to increase the chances?

the actual breath test cannot be a zero tolerence reading or how ever you would put it as diabetics always have a slight reading that hits the scale on the tests. in sweden they have altered their tests to slightly above that average reading due to this.

They should do a test like making you walk a line or say red lorry yellow lorry and all that...cos some people can drink a lot more than others before becoming impaired or disabled. Some people would fail a practical tests even within the existing limits i'm sure - you meet some people who get ****ed on one glass

There is a pub near us that is renowned for drinkers who drive. When the police were asked why they don't just wait outside they said they were not allowed to as it could be seen as 'harassment'

there is a pub near us that the old bill do actually wait outside, no one gets caught tho as they are clearly visible there. a decent deterrent i guess

Entrapment.

I wonder, if police went to my local on a saturday night (car park full) and brethalised everyone who came out of the pub with a set of car keys, and sent everyone who failed on foot, how many cars would be left in the car park  Clue: all of them. ;)
