It makes me thankful for the sacrifice they made and sad that they had to make it, but still did so without question. There is a church near us that has a cross with jesus on and the the years of the two world wars with the inscription, does it mean so little to all ye who pass by? I have often considered making a plaque to put underneath it.
I think you only had to watch the bbc program on tuesday night to see the reality of it and to be thankful to those old soldiers.

Imagine the dismay of someone who lived in mud and bullets and the pure hell of any vetrerans from all conflicts to see some pinstripe on the news explaining that poppy day is a charity and can only be allowed to collect for 2 days of the year (Salisbury/Southampton to name just 2 ) as it wouldn't be fair on other charities. Like dog charities ffs!!!. Makes me curl up in embarrasment.
