So the ministry now operates in a different department, with the current minister I posted earlier. Only difference it isn't stand alone. Thanks for confirming.

Back to school for you.

It’s been downgraded because Sweden is losing/lost faith in renewable energy.

Where’s the strip mine post? Showing the damage renewables do to the earth. Especially EV’s.

Doc Brown had it sussed really. And that was the “80’s”

You claimed it had been binned.

Nonsense.
Then why downgrade and move to nuclear? They have more land and about 1/6th of the uk population. So wind farms and solar power should run in abundance, with no issue at all.

I’ve been numerous times and they have so much space for it all.

But like covid they are going against the grain…..

Then why downgrade and move to nuclear?
They have upped their electricity requirements by 2040 so will use nuclear for the shortfall. What is so difficult to understand? Look it up.

They are still committed to their 2045 target on net zero.

Yeah for all 11 million people. Must be a massive struggle….

Its not a downgrade.

Because installing nuclear and renewables is the rational choice. That their population is smaller than the UK's is irrelevant, they have 11m people, and that is a fair number of people. They still have a baseload supply issue just like us.
Nuclear is the safest energy source available.

To show an example of where rare earth metals come from. Renewables need more per unit of energy produced than other energy sources (as well as more concrete & steel).

Just to remind people: I'm not against renewables, but we can't address climate change with only renewables. We need nuclear as well.

As for EVs: Well, the carbon footprint is lower than ICEs, but I'd rather bike places if I can. So we need to design our cities to enable more cycling/walking/public transport.

They started phasing it out in 1980, and due to the aftermath of Covid that caused the energy crisis they started to move back in to nuclear energy.

Seems they didn’t have a choice really.
