If they don't? Russian interest for survival is aligned with putin's. You can't separate them.

What is your plan. You have one or you are a fruit cake? When it's all over, this thread will still be here. What then?
I watched a tv prog a year or so back re countries like Russia, China and so on. The assertion was such countries look on human life and its value (including their own citizens) in a completely different way to most countries in the west. A further assertion was made that many citizens within these countries also hold these views i.e. it doesn't just come from those on power. The underlying point was these countries put survival and dominance of their state above all else, including the life of their own citizens. In short, people are looked on as disposable with little/no importance or value afforded to the individual.

We see this with the current conflict, almost anyone and everyone being called up / drafted or whatever the phrase is to ensure success in battle.

What else would they be there for, to ensure failure?

Russia has the greatest natural resource wealth of any country. It shouldn't be surprising they want to protect it, and others wanting a piece of it. If history is anything to go by, they will succeed in protecting it.

Calm your jets ;) of course any country would want to succeed in battle, I wasn't inferring there's anything wrong with that.

Jeez, this forum for folk reading things into posts that the poster doesn't mean ...

Human cultures form because people are willing to defend them. It may not worth anything to you, you can't assume the same for others.

Calling people names on the internet is a form of culture. I really don't see how russia could be defeated by that. Russians are materialistic given their vast land holdings. I am not sure emotional attacks on them have any effect. Yes, I did read a thread here saying his russian wife was emotional. So, not everything is 100% black and white.

Who is wanting a piece of Russia? They are expanding, not defending.
The handed over demands said roll back nato according the gobachev's deal. I don't think that's expansion. The demand was dismissed, and so the better parts of ukraine were taken - most of the wheat, industrial, and mine territories. There remains the coast to be taken. It is believed ukraine will not be viable without the coast. Take or not take will depend on ukraine/nato response.

I want a piece of russia. But my ambition is greater than my ability, like many people and/or entities.

Vlad the invader has another huge new NATO border next to Russia. That worked out well...
if your on about finland russia has for decades expected this and has major infrastructure right up to the border so they can in theory head straight in
