I can see exactly what’s happened here, that socket does indeed look new- albeit a cheap brand.
The plug could not have been changed as when plugged into the new socket, still created a poor connection due to previous heat damage and thus caused it and the socket to overheat again. You can see above the live pin a brown mark from the plugs fuse which was hot.
A new good quality plug and socket would of prevented this.
Is this not heat damage?

Both the socket and the plug now need replacing...So i was right it is heat damage. Does that suggest that the socket is functioning ok but the fan heater and it's plug are dodgy?
