fit a socket below FFS.
Except there might not be room to do so and it is highly undesireable to put such a plug and socket in a really silly place like in a cupboard with pots and pans regularly clanking about.
So one way might be to fit the plug and socket below but in a quite inaccessible place but controlling a socket with a DP switch sited above the worktop - one drawback is some folks do not like to see more than a very minimum of sockets etc above a worktop - there yah go, you can not please everyone

so it's highly undesirable to put a socket in a "really silly place like in a cupboard" but it's ok to "fit a plug and socket below in a quite inaccessible place"..............

I would say preferable if it is controlled by a switch above the worktop say a DP switch or SWFU above the worktop to use for isolating the socket despite the plug still being in. The problem with a SFCU is you introduce a two fuse in series scenario which a few might condemn as a possible cause of confusion.

No I would not think it`s OK to fit a plug and socket below in a quite inaccessable place and I reckon it must always be avoided but avoiding it is nor always possibe, that is the problem. Whenever you come accross a problem you avoid it but sometimes you create another problem. The problem is that all problems can not always be avoided so it the becomes the problem to decide on the least problenic problematic problem or problems to mitigate the problem down.
Hopefully you do not have much of a problem with the problems I suggested

Why cant someone come up with a nice moulded plug with push connectors or something. Like how these work https://www.quickwire.co.uk/product/quickwire-switch-load-junction-box/

Look how ugly this looks. Writing all over it massive cable entry - who has a flex cable that big, I think that cable is 1.5mm 2 as it is, its a 3 way trailing socket. Would look better if it was clean I grant you.

Why bother with nice plugs when you have filthy sockets?

Lipstick on a pig.
