The fishermen were told repeatedly they were being lied to but they chose to dismiss the lies. They hoped that Brexit would screw other people for their benefit, it hasn't worked out for them. It's what all populist leaders and policies are - hollow.

But it inevitably cheapens our culture and flag. It won't end well, it never does, look at the US. The only way they can maintain power is through voter suppresion - look at the changes voted through in the State of Georgia or the plans for Voter ID in the uk. How many prosections for Voting offences in the UK = one but ask anyone on here its happening everywhere.

So the current laws and Police are capable of dealing with those incidents. The people behind the toppling of the statue are facing court proceedings now.

Deface a statue get upto 10 years, rape a woman and if you are the unlucky 1 in 240 and get convicted you might face upto 5 years.
