Do you think "disinformation" has changed much in the USA over the last few decades?
John Pilger told a great story about disinformation.
He said he was talking to a Polish bloke who had escaped communism in his home country.
Pilger said people in the west felt sorry for those people in communist Poland because they were being subjected to relentless propaganda every day.
The Polish bloke said he felt sorry for people in the west.
Pilger asked why.
The Polish bloke said in Poland everyone knew that they were being fed lies by the state but the silly westerners still believed everything they read in the papers or seen on TV.

Disinformation has always gone on, its just that people are more aware of it.
no, not to the extent of this right wing populist government.

we are in a new era of corruption

there used to be MPs with integrity in politics, including the Tory party....well no more

Blah blah blah... still crying when a vote doesn’t go your way.. I bet you still remind siblings about how unfair the Christmas presents were in 1976.
Stop constantly whining like a little beech.

There is no cost or downside to lying. If you get caught out on a lie just double down and deflect, the Media are pro Tory in the main and the BBC is too scared to delve further into the issue. Look at the coverage for Priti Patel bullying case - she settled out of court, but that was glossed over.

Theresa May, was many things but I think she had a sense of moral duty and fibre, this current Government has two ministers who have been sacked from previous Governments for misleading or leaking.

The public are apathetic.

Whatever. As long as it’s not labour in power, find someone who’s cares coz if it gives you the hump, it’s all good in my eyes. You big baby.

"He (Dominic Cummings) called the BBC a “mortal enemy” and “determined propagandist” whose “very existence should be the subject of a very intense and well-funded campaign”. He continued: “There are three things that the right needs to happen in terms of communications...1) the undermining of the BBC’s credibility; 2) the creation of a Fox News equivalent/talk radio shows/loggers etc to shift the centre of gravity; 3) the end of the ban on TV political advertising.”

Part two is now taking shape. News UK TV – an evening-only service offering news and political debate – will be financed by Rupert Murdoch’s media empire and overseen by David Rhodes, a former Fox News and CBS executive.

GB News, backed by £60m from predominantly right-wing financiers, will be a 24-hour service fronted by Andrew Neil, the chairman of the Spectator. Its chief executive will be Angelos Frangopoulos, who built up Murdoch’s Sky News Australia."

Your blind loyalty is that of a football supporter. This isn't democracy in action. When your kids pick up your mess, I hope they are not too harsh on you.

Personally, I don’t think he’s got the personality to ever win back seats in Scotland or convince the “traditional” labour voter.

Scotland is Conservative v SNP.
SNP will eventually win.

I think UKIP and SNP have together killed labour for now, don't think another change of leader will fix that in a hurry, although if things don't improve after covid people might start looking for answers come the next election. Covid has conveniently made everybody forget what a mess the Tories have made of the UK in the last decade.

The irony is that I live in the heart of the South East, a region that will make money out of Brexit.

The regions that will suffer are the industrial regions of the North.....who voted Brexit.

Naa. Labour neglected them for years. Conservatives will look after them

Labour is really 2 parties, which means it suffers constant in fighting: divided parties don't win elections.

I would also say the socialist left are too idealistic, not realistic. This country has the worlds biggest financial centre and 50% of the land is owned by 1%.......there's no chance of them allowing a socialist government in.

Starmer must push for electoral reform in the next election because ending FPTP is the only way this country will achieve anything approaching a government which actually represents the people.
