All aboard!

Your chart tried to show that the majority of arrivals were those by boat. it did not show the full picture. It only showed those detected at certain points: ports and airports, and the small number of undocumented migrants discovered elsewhere. Therefore it's a mis-diection. The other group, the visa over-stayers, were included in JP's statement. They are not detected on arrival.
But you've now clouded the issue by suggesting that the discussion is merely about accomodation. The thread may have been started about that, but like all threads, it's meandered.
JP's point holds true, the boat arrivals are a small part of the overall immigrants. I quoted 3.8% of all immigrants are boat arrivals. that's a small percentage of the overall number, but it attracts all the right-wing xenophobic press.
This whole thread is about the asylum seekers being housed in a barge, not about general immigration.

General immigration is within our rules. No one is arguing against that in this thread that i can see.

Your original digression was an implication that JP's comment was not factual.
It was in the context that JP made it.
JP was eching the media and government focus on boat crossings to UK, when in reality they are a small number of overall asylum seekers, of which little mention is made.
You have now returned to the OP to justify your rebuttal of JP's comment.

And, it's 100,000 in 5 years. Whereas as we had 1,200,000 legal migrants in 2022.
Excellent observation.
The government have proven incapable of dealing with about 20,000 boat asylum seekers per year, over the last five years.
So those claiming that large cities need to be built each year to accomodate asylum seekers is utter tosh.

It's a UN Refugee Convention requirement that Asylum Seekers are accomodated, not imprisoned.

I disagree. I think a certain group of posters are deliberately trying to take the thread away from the small boat asylum seekers who need accommodation by attempting to dilute their significance by bringing legal immigrants into the discussion.

But nobody has a clue what the Government will do when this barge is full in a week or 2.

Another barge? More hotels? Build some houses?

What about the real issue, processing.

Too many people keep getting their eyes and brain diverted too easily

I agree. There are some who quote the net migration figures as though they are all the boat crossing asylum seekers, and new large cities need building each year.
As JP was pointing out.

I saw a BBC report earlier suggesting that boat crossing asylum seekers are less than 3% of the total.
So why the inordinate focus on boat crossing asylum seekers.
It's intended as a rhetorical question. Answers are optional.

The fire brigade said the barge was a fire risk...

Now it's a health risk...

I wonder what Cruella's take on this will be?
