Not my personal experience.
Usually the non EU queues in European airports are shorter than the EU ones.

Strange. Not exactly peak holiday season. I’ve been in airports where the non EU queue has been moving faster than the EU one. Depends what flights (EU/non EU)are arriving/departing I suppose.

And I've had exactly the opposite.

Queues form much quicker
 
Anecdotes are useless. Heathrow publishes its' waiting times though and last time I checked they haven't moved much.

The EES might change that but it has been pushed back again and we'd still be suffering from it even if we were in the EU as we'd still have been outside Shengen.

No need to get your passport stamped though, so you can use the egates.
