nearly time for all the 9/11 rememberances and the "oh woe is our great nation" shows on telly have started again.. ..

not to be disrespectfull but it's done, get over it.. we don't need it every single year..

we don't have the D-Day landings on every year or any other man made disasters year after year so why do we still get this..

I think that they only do it to keep the wound fresh and to keep the support for the military actions abroad

No harm in reminding ourselves about what they did and are capable of doing.

Next, the barstewards will want to build a mosque near the site!

ok, for a start, the mosque would be for the benefit of the people that live there, most of them being born there and every bit as american as the rest of them, and the attack was carried out by people from abroad..

it's like saying "no you can't build a school here because some kid went nuts in America with a rifle and killed all his school mates.."

The area they want to build on is an industrial area, no one lives there.

A tad harsh Coljack
Firstly, nobody is forcing you to watch them and secondly, IMO, they serve as a reminder to remain vigilant and not become complacent as the threat of terrorism in America is ever present.
It was the largest, most devastating act of terrorism on American soil ever and, of course, until then, the American's experience of terrorists was merely funding them from a safe distance, but that's another story.
Having said that, I don't disagree that their motives may well include maintaining support for their troops both now and in the future.

Why do you have a problem with a nation paying respect to their loved ones?

Why not? You don't live there so what's it to you?

'Man made disaster'? With respect Col even I find your choice of words inflammatory. And with reference to commemorating the dead (if that's what you're relating to), in this country we commemorate the dead of every war/battle and quite rightly so.

I don't agree with the war in Iraq, I think it's ALL about OIL. However, in relation to the war in Afghanistan, I don't think the Americans need to keep the 'wound fresh' to keep up support. The Americans were attacked by Al Qaeda and believe me, I'm the first to criticise the Americans on most things but to give them their due, they didn't just role over and take a beating after 9/11, they took the fight straight back to the aggressor. If someone comes into my house and kills my family then I WILL attack the aggressor!

What if you killed them sleepwalking?

Can't remember where I read it, but someone said that in the name of tolerance, we should let them build the mosque near Ground Zero.

Then, to test their tolerance, a gay sauna should be opened one side of the mosque, and a strip club and all-night bar on the other side.

Also, would we be allowed to build a Christian church/cathedral in a muslim country? What do you think?

Hmmm. Tolerance?

So if a dog is born in a stable, its a horse?

so do you have red hair and green eyes then? if not then you're not from this country either as if you have black hair you're likely of roman decent and blonde hair is the viking invaders..

WTH are you on about Coljack?

Are you delirious from lack of food or something ....... you're talking gibberish
