and so it rolls around again..

ok, for a start, the mosque would be for the benefit of the people that live there, most of them being born there and every bit as american as the rest of them

Hmmm. So if a dog is born in a stable, its a horse?
but apart from a tiny number of pure-blood native Americans, they're all descended from immigrants. so you're saying all Americans are horses? or all dogs?

... do everything to avoid intergration. They have their own areas, their own religion, their own language, their women are isolated and hidden from society at large, they eat different food, they don't drink alcohol, or eat pork.

They have different religous holidays, they look different, they have their own 'bible', they have their own ... law, they have their own religous schools, they have different morals and standards, they have their own butchers, they slaughter their animals differently, they dress differently, they have different churches....
so you wouldn't let Jews build a synagogue either? How are you on Quakers, Jehovas Witnesses, Catholics or Buddhists? How about people who speak Welsh? Or eat strange things like black pudding, or lava bread, or porage, or haggis? Or vegetarians? Or have strange habits like wearing flat hats and keeping pigeons?

You appear to be a very intolerant person

Is it religious intolerance, or racial intolerance, or both?

The hand-wringing Guardian-reading booby has spoken.

Perhaps I'm just a bit more tolerant than societies with laws that advocate amputation for minor theft or stoning to death women accused of adultery. How about arranged marriages and honour killings?

Though, if they were all for euthenasing bed-wetting lefty wrinklies, I'd be sorely tempted to sign up! ;)

I see the man who is intolerant of people having their own religion, their own schools, and their own food has spoken

sadly he is also intolerant of people expressing views different to his own, and falls back on inaccurate denigration

Not at all John. Its down to numbers, and their desire to dominate. In a few short years, their numbers have increased, so that in certain cities the indigenous population will be a minority. Mosque on every street corner anyone?

Scary for me, scarier for future generations. Your generation were napping when this was starting.

so do your withdraw your earlier rant of intolerance?

do you now tolerate religious schools (such as Catholic ones)?

religious food laws, such as not eating pork (like the Jewish ones)?

having their own language (like the Welsh)?

not drinking alcohol (like the Quakers)?

having different religious holidays (like the Hindus)?

having their own "bible" (like all religions do)?

looking different (like everyone who isn't exactly like you)?

having different morals and scruples (like the Plymouth Brethren)?

dressing differently (like people who are younger than you)?

having different churches (like Methodists)?

your is just a torrent of intolerance. You obviously find it difficult to put up a sensible justification for your attitudes.

my grandparents generation were napping while Fascism grew. Some of us are keeping awake to prevent people like you helping it to regrow.

racial and ethnic hatred has been seen before. You are not the first. The result of letting your sort get out of hand is too awful to be repeated.

Why is it that when the humourless bleeding-hearts brigade meet someone with an opposing viewpoint, they get all hysterical?

I've put my point accross, I haven't got all day like you to examine every aspect of it. You haven't understood the issue, so I will leave it to you to come back to me one last (hopefully!) time with an accusation of fascism.

Over to you.

are we talking about the Vikings again?

surely they didn't just stop praying to their gods in favour of whoever or whatever was being prayed to at the time?
spoke fluent english when they landed did they or did they continue in their own tongue for a few years?
immediately spread out into the local villages or kept to their own camps?

who brought christianity over here anyway and when?

this is all getting away from the point anyway..
it was a few extremists that did that, not musilms in general, they didn't all take a secret ballot and vote yes to attacking america.
the same way that it was a few extremists that bombed canary wharf, not Irish people as a whole..
