and so it rolls around again..

nearly time for all the 9/11 rememberances and the "oh woe is our great nation" shows on telly have started again...
Why do you have a problem with a nation paying respect to their loved ones?

I don't have any problem with it, but we are not that nation so why do we get the documentaries and conspiracy theories rammed down our throats each year?

not to be disrespectfull but it's done, get over it.. we don't need it every single year..
Why not? You don't live there so what's it to you?
It's nothing to me but as above why do WE have to have it..

we don't have the D-Day landings on every year or any other man made disasters year after year so why do we still get this..
'Man made disaster'? With respect Col even I find your choice of words inflammatory. And with reference to commemorating the dead (if that's what you're relating to), in this country we commemorate the dead of every war/battle and quite rightly so.
yes we comemorate the dead, with 2 mins of silence not 3 weeks of televised footage of the deed in the weeks running up to the aniversary..
would you not classify the slaughter of so many men on the various beaches a disaster then?

I think that they only do it to keep the wound fresh and to keep the support for the military actions abroad
I don't agree with the war in Iraq, I think it's ALL about OIL. However, in relation to the war in Afghanistan, I don't think the Americans need to keep the 'wound fresh' to keep up support. The Americans were attacked by Al Qaeda and believe me, I'm the first to criticise the Americans on most things but to give them their due, they didn't just role over and take a beating after 9/11, they took the fight straight back to the aggressor. If someone comes into my house and kills my family then I WILL attack the aggressor!

I never said I agree with the various "wars" that America threw themselves into, but are they trying to even the score?
you analogise someone attacking your family and taking retribution, but does that mean that you have to send your cousins and aunts and uncles to die aswell just to get vengence for your wife and kids?

that's akin to saying "the kid from the a few streets away just broke my window, so lets go to their street and break all the windows in every house"

Col, I have no idea what you're on or what's in your bonnet but you do NOT have to watch ANY of those televised events.

As to YOUR analogy of MY analogy, I think 'breaking windows' is a lifetime away from attacking and killing your loved ones.

With respect Col, I think you're having a go for illogical reasons.

Yes, I have traced my family back many centuries and discovered that I am descended from Normans who are descended from Vikings.

The main differece between population movements before, and the ones now is intergration. If I am Norman/Viking, I have fully intergrated into the 'indigenous' population

Muslim immigrants do everything to avoid intergration. They have their own areas, their own religion, their own language, their women are isolated and hidden from society at large, they eat different food, they don't drink alcohol, or eat pork.

They have different religous holidays, they look different, they have their own 'bible', they have their own Sharia law, they have their own religous schools, they have different morals and standards, they have their own butchers, they slaughter their animals differently, they dress differently, they have different churches.

That's the difference Coljack, which you fail to appreciate. They are and always will be DIFFERENT. They are determined to stay DIFFERENT, and want to impose their differences on us, rather than blending in and changing to OUR ways.

Human beings as a rule seek out people with something in common with them. It will never work. Their persistant differences mean big problems ahead, for us, our society and our children. Problems that we just don't need, and aren't worth the hassle.

This is the differece between us and them. A difference that is incompatible with a christian democracy. Do you get it now Coljack?

I don't have any problem with it, but we are not that nation so why do we get the documentaries and conspiracy theories rammed down our throats each year?

ANY nation making a stand against muslim fundamentalist lunatics, whose only aim, in their despicable existence is to cause death, destruction, and misery to innocent people, will get my utmost respect.

These animals cannot be reasoned with.......
Their sole direction in life is world islamic domination, that means kill and maim easy targets of stupidly naive politically correct countries like ours.

Shame on you coljack.
American soldiers are fighting and dying right this minute, right alongside ours.

Col, you ask why we should have to watch/listen to this each year. Simple.
There were British people killed in this atrocity, there are people, myself included, who find this hard to believe that it actually happened and there are children who weren't born/too young to know at the time who need to know what happened on that day.
I bet you can remember exactly where you were/what you were doing when the news of this was broadcast. I certainly can.
We were listening on the radio in work when the boss came out and said he'd been watching on the internet was happening. He sent us home as there was no likelihood of anything being done for the rest of the day.
On arriving home I found my wife in tears staring at the tv in disbelief. A few minutes later the first tower collapsed, it was just so surreal that we both sat there for the next few hours without a word being spoken or needing to be. To this day I still find it hard to comprehend what we witnessed as it happened. If we stop commemorating this event the terrorists will win because people will become complacent and lower their guard against these people.
As for your comment on us 'just having a 2 minute silence to remember the War' you are wrong. There is a lot of media coverage leading up to the likes of The Battle of Britain, ve day, vj day and a lot of major decisive battles. Tune into a number of satellite channels any day of the week and there will be a programme about some section of history to remind us of what our forbearers went through in order for us to have our freedom from oppression.
On this subject Col you are bang out of touch.

for what it's worth coljack, i'm a huge supporter of remembering the guys (and gals) from a generation ago that lost their lives in order to make my life of today possible. But that was a generation ago... whereas the twin towers wasn't just an attack on America, it was an attack on the west... and potentially people i know and love now.

it isn't 'rammed' down our necks.... far less than any carppy drama, or antything else for that matter. Modern life needs to be about choice... watch it or don't watch it, but don't dictate to others what should be available... note the concious decision to use the word 'dictate' !!

the trouble we have here is some people are treating everything as black and white

of course the bombers /terrorist/highjackers where pure evil and i in no way would stand up for them

what you need to remember is 98% off any group will be law abiding with only a small pecentage off fanaticals of maybe a few hundred being dangerouse with a few more thousand being gulable but loyal to an extreme cause but do nothing appart from stir up hatred

by law abiding i am only refering to extremist action like extreme violence bombing and such like

then you will get a few hundred thousand just plain biggoted
but in general the vast majority just want to get on with there neibours mix in and be freindly
of course they will relish there roots and remember their past but thats just the way things are :D ;)

I'm sick and tired of the footage being repeatedly aired, every September. Remember these are people dying in front of our eyes, who would want to watch that?

Simple - cheap TV. Air cheap public camcorder footage, shot badly, time and time again, because the TV channel can't afford to produce anything else. Drag it all up for the people involved, or watch a horrorfest for the gore fans interested.

Why not put up a rolling film up of the Raoul Moat execution? It was only ever going to go one way.

Because broadcasters are cheap, and the public only watch to see the sticky end. Like when people went to watch public executions, the public want a show. Sick human perversion.

No harm in reminding ourselves about what they did and are capable of doing.

Next, the barstewards will want to build a mosque near the site!

Also, would we be allowed to build a Christian church/cathedral in a muslim country? What do you think?

Hmmm. Tolerance?
Plenty muslim countries with christian churches. Turkey, Syria, Jordan. Egypt etc. etc.
In fact the only muslim state where I know there isn't is Saudi Arabia

All depends if you believe what they have told us whether you think muslims are to blame
.Far too many inconsistencies in the official version .

Sheer scale of it people cant get there heads around they think governments only kill the odd innocent individual to achieve things if only that was true

Oh here we go, the good old conspiracy theories have started, get ready for another twenty pages.

they eat different food, they don't drink alcohol, or eat pork.

I'd disagree with that statement Whitespirit.
In a pub I used to play darts for, there was a group of Muslim men that were in there almost every night.
On darts and pool nights, they wouldn't play either, but were first in the queue for food at the end of the match.
Landlord started putting on sausages, bacon, ham etc and still they were the first in the queue.

I suppose they were at least "Trying to integrate" though.

Yes, I have traced my family back many centuries and discovered that I am descended from Normans who are descended from Vikings.

Integration? We didn't want you here in the first place, your ancestors came over here, killed our king and overtook the place.
**** off back to your own country, foreigner!
