Antibiotics...

Our standards are (in danger of)being set lower than the EU.

Lower or higher standards for you ?

Who says the EU standards on pumping animals full of antibiotics 'just in case' are correct in the first place?
Our standards of using less, are in danger of being lower than the EU.

New rules intended to reduce the use of antibiotics in farming in the UK have been criticised as too lax and weaker than their equivalent under EU laws

I have to get rid of a car in mint conditions because of pollution nonsense.
Supported by the electorate, but you could vote him out next time. Won't be long...

No money return on there investment ??

Again afaik there has not been any new antibiotics for years and years ??

Brexit is relevant to the overuse.

The EU and the UK are both restricting the overuse of antibiotics. The EU is restricting it more than the UK. By leaving the EU we've taken the freedom to set our own standards and they're lower than the EUs.

New antibiotics are being looked into but it's not an easy area and most fail so ROI isn't great.

However, campaigners say that clauses allowing the preventive use of antibiotics for whole groups of animals in “exceptional circumstances” represent a loophole that could allow the practice to continue.

An instance of why it's best to find more info concerning reports. It would really depend on how it's regulated. Just what are exceptional circumstances. Even look at EU rules directly. They may have something similar included.

The basic reason farmers do it relate to rate of growth of the animals concerned. They have found it improves it. If UK and EU rules on the subject were looked at in detail it may well say fine to certain drugs. The original link mentions sorting it out via the UN. Some countries might be concerned about loss of an economic advantage.

Humans. One of my aunts died from a hospital bug following a hip replacement, No problem with that just the bug. A long time ago now. Hospitals have been a good source of them. Transfer reduced by improving hygiene. GP's have been more reluctant to supply antibiotics. They use a range of them. Hospitals have an extended range.

We do export meat including to the EU. I'd be rather surprised if our rules put an end to that.

It's a bit more nuanced than stated. It's not as simple as "any antibiotic = bad". Reasoning has even crept into A level Env Science which I had to look at recently, so looking it up online should inform.

Neonicotinoids is another, where the information wasn't available at the time of the main legislative decisions. Sometimes as with that, it was appropriate to ban "in case", while studies are done. Those can as with these, come out with results in several directions.

The EU, like Australia incidentally, has something of a reputation for politicians reacting inappropriately to matters they haven't investigated properly.
Remember how they wanted to act against the "scourge of the motorcycle in our cities"? They decided they wanted to ban the bigger-engined ones, which as pointed out by the better informed, was stupid. Oops.

It's in the first post.
No it isn't as I explained. Earlier article same paper prompted by an anti with no idea of what controls the UK will be using, Very much a could rather than a fact.
