Anyone got a Yamaha FS1E?

I heard that paramedics call motorcyclists 'organ donors’.

I had to stop and get a picture of my FJR by this sign on some Italian/Swiss mountain pass. They were every few hundred metres. I got the message…..

On the whole, I’ve been hurt more in car accidents than motorcycle accidents. Two of my car accidents have involved fairly bad head injuries and stitches. You tend to be a bit more aware on a bike than when you are cocooned safely in a car with doors, seatbelts and airbags to protect you.

It's other motorists I'd worry about if I had a bike.

If you fall off your horse of bicycle its considered to be an unfortunate accident, if you come off your motorbike, its your own fault because everyone knows they are dangerous. We seem to be tuned as humans to think that anything fast and loud is more dangerous. It's the same with Jetskis. Skiing is vastly more dangerous.

For me, it's the lack of wriggle room between a moment's lapse /bad luck/idiocy, and some serious consequences.

Like a less extreme version of that homemade submarine.

I’ve been knocked off mine three times and each time before hitting the ground no matter how quick it happens, I’ve had time to think 'How much is this going to hurt me?' :ROFLMAO:

Statistically more people drown in cars than die from head injuries after falling from a horse.

This argument is used by horse riders whenever the subject of the wearing of compulsory helmets comes up. If a horse rider must wear a helmet then surely a car driver must wear an aqualung . . . . .

Such nonsense, & there are LOTS of examples, are almost always from folk who are on the outside looking in.

Someone mentioned the old Raleigh Chopper early .
Raleigh have finally re released the new version of it in the past week with people queuing up for it the day before priced at 950 quid .Bit steep

Is that an Escort on an 'N' plate in the lock-up?
Yeah. Was a 4 door 1300E. I cannibalised it for my RS200 replica rebuild. After test fitting the running gear, I used the flared front wings and 6 clock dash panel that was carefully cut out and welded in to a 2 door shell. It then got cut up and scrapped. If you look carefully you can see a Puch Maxi in there too. I got some looks on that in full motorcycle clothing and full face helmet when pedalling away from the lights. :ROFLMAO:

Ever ridden a bicycle or a horse?

What sensible person would drive a vehicle, which falls over when you stop?

Yes, had bikes much of my life, my last was a VFR. I have also ridden horses too. Never had any accidents at all, but lots of close calls, due to the stupidity of others.

I find - The extra awareness, also transfers over to when you are driving a car. I also feel much safer being driven on four wheels, by someone who has spent an apprenticeship on two.

DVLA says it's SORNd!

And it is/was purple.
Yeah, was purple under the primer - you can see it in the door shuts. Definitely wasn’t sorned by me. Was taxed and insured in my name when I had it. Bloke who took it away along with a lot of other metal had the log book I think. Wasn’t much left of the shell - it was stripped of literally everything including dash panel, boot, bonnet, doors - everything. I think I even cut the rear arches and boot well out of it too. I doubt if anyone would bother restoring a 4 door shell. Perhaps he sorned it?

Dash went in this one -

Wings went on resto vehicle - had to fill in the side repeaters as RS's didn’t have them but the E's did. The flared arches were the same on both models but even in those days, second hand flared wings for MK1 Escorts were fetching hundreds. Even rotten ones!
