a god is purely a notion.. instilled into accepting brains... similar to ghosts and gremlins...

With no physical evidence,god can be nothing else !

Don't be silly folks. The universe came from somewhere. What more proof do you need that something is behind the universe? If you can't tell me what it is and where it came from then we'll have to call it God won't we?

While I broadly get what you are driving at ( you accidentally having made a decent stab at offering a credible response) I will not be referring to the origins of the universe as 'God' if you are thinking about the Abrahamic vision of an omnipotent sadist that most people of a religious bent worship.

If you are just suggesting we use the word as a convenience fair enough, however, I contend that 'god' is not a good word to use as it will inevitably lead to a confusion.

How about, 'the colossal vomit of the making of all stuff and things'?

Ah, I see. Because 'it is written', we are not allowed to question religious beliefs and rules.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no external evidence of a god, beyond circular, internal , self referential arguments that one must exist.

eg 'I believe that the Bible is God's Word . and the Bible says God exists, therefore God exists'

Evidence needs to be external of the belief system that uses it to support itself eg fossils are evidence that support the theory of evolution.

It would be great if there was actual evidence of a god, afterlife or some spiritual world, beyond the arguments I mention above , but there simply isn't.

This of course allows the believer to say that if you could prove it you would not need faith , so that is why we do not have proof, or worse still quote Augustine's 'proof'.

so are you saying that fossils are evidence of evolution, but at the same time are you discrediting the material evidence of creation, and including the fossil.
