Arctic ice melting - maybe not

Well done to those in this thread who expose the willfully ignorant and the trolls. The problem is, they're too thick to see it, or they do it on purpose, or both. To the ignorant do one thing - look up "albido" and Environmental tipping points . You might learn just one thing.

The EV issue is bound up in politics. The Chinese are pushing developments of EVs because they want to use more of their coal for electricity production, and import less oil.

EVs should become much cheaper, you can already buy a decent BYD in China for about £8k. Article here but there are many.
In the US and here, the lack of development of charging infrastructure, combined with limited range, is depressing takeup, as is reduction or removal of financial incentives.

Vehicles remain a relatively small producer of pollutants, compared with shipping, Aeroplanes, and industry. Those are much harder nuts.

There is a current flash of interest in Small Modular Reactors, with modules potentially used in multiples for data centres, crypto miners and a few other things. Rolls Royce is a name in the frame. One's shares there are doing OK, up about 6x this year:

Some others (SMR) have been even more volatile:

So far they haven't made great strides, but we'll see more of them especially if they can go even smaller, efficiently.

Why do all the climate deniers also support Brexit, Reform, Oil burning cars etc ?

Ok, maybe not all, but a significant majority.

Someone will be along soon to say " where did I say that?"
Talk about generalising.

Most folk probably agree there is something going on climate wise. Where folk disagree is the routes being instigated to resolve it. e.g. the UK wanting to be some sort of trailblazer with all this green stuff (at citizens expense both practically and financially) whilst other big players keep churning out pollutants on a very significant scale.

By that I don't mean we should be doing nothing, it's the pace and strategy that gets folks backs up.

Am I wrong though ?

There's lots on here flat out denying it ! Harry being 1. Lots of others though

Some don't even care anyway, do they . Others want to just change a little?

Yes, it's not fast enough is it

Strange that @Harry Bloomfield give you a thanks for the above post.

Strange in that he has previously said that we gave the world such benefits as railways (enabling them to improve their own countries and economies) and yet can't see that our striking out and becoming world leaders in green energy generation / capture is just the same.

yep lets just kill hundreds of thousands of little black kids in africa mining all these metals so westerners can tell us how they are saving the planet . What the fek do they matter

It’s not generalising.

Harry, gas112, Nwgs2, Fillyboy, Aveatry, Sunshine32 are all pro Brexit, pro Trump, pro reform and climate change sceptics.

Reform party…..gets funding from fossil fuels
Tory party….gets funding from fossil fuels
GBnews….gets funding from fossil fuels

I never read GBnews, but I will admit to voting Reform last time. I wasn't impressed with either Conservative, or Labour, so decided upon a protest vote.

As good an argument for countries like ourselves to take the lead in research and development then, and make "green" energy truly green (y)

(We might even make a few quid out of it too ;) )

Maybe I'm being a little rose-tinted in my view, but I do hold out some hope for good things to come of Cornish lithium...

Report on the news about some new state of the art duel fuel ferry for Scotland that produces more green house gases than the diesel ferry it replaced :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Cargo ship in China all
Leccy is used to ferry coal to power stations :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Yep.

Alternative fuels for boats don't really make sense at the moment. Electric ferrys work but you need to make sure you've got some hefty power lines or swappable battery containers.
