Are they trying to scare us all again - What is this mutated new virus?

Population density of the UK is approx 3 times that of Portugal. England more the 4 times.

Greater London has a population density of approx 58 times that of Portugal.

Of the 30,000 "cases" in over 80s, 4,000 "people" died. So only a bit over 1 in 10. Barely worth "worrying" about.
Many of those coffin dodgers who died 'with' the 'virus' would have died anyway...

Life is a terminal illness!

But there's been a far greater 'excess' death toll from tory austerity than from the 'virus'...

And the death toll from other preventable diseases in the coming years will also be a bigger 'excess'!

How long will it take for all of us to get vaccinated?

When are we all going to be vaccinated? Can I ask this question in this thread or should I start another thread for this subject matter? I'd like to focus on how quickly we can get immunity and will it definitely provide immunity from this fast pace variant?
If you're over 50 or at high risk then probably before summer.

If you're in any other group then it'll be longer and no one knows when that'll be, or if we'll vaccinate everyone.

Is there uncertainty as to if everybody will be vaccinated?

And how regularly we'll all need vaccination.
Annually, like the flu jab?
No one can tell yet. I hate to agree with some other posters on here but some science you can't do faster even with unlimited budget.

It's not uncommon for booster schedules to be adjusted as tests show that protection lasts longer or shorter periods than expected.
Is there a question mark over if the entire population of the UK will get vaccinated or not? With all of the vaccines we've purchased I would have thought that's not something that's up for discussion or is it because of the so called "herd immunity" which I think means that viruses just die out because they can't jump to anybody because most people are vaccinated?
Boris has said we will, so yes, massive question mark.

Herd immunity is a bit more complicated, it doesn't automatically mean the disease dies out entirely but it means there is enough people immune/protected so that outbreaks are small and don't spread very far or fast so you can isolate.

Immunising an entire adult population is very rare, add in the 1/3 or so who say they won't get the Vaccine and I don't know if we'll ever hit herd immunity. As for the doses we've ordered, *shrug*

What do you mean EFL? The vaccine will stop us catching this thing won't it in the same way that the Polio vaccine stops us catching Polio and the same for Small Pox etc etc etc or have I misunderstood?
Immunity is slightly different to protection. Vaccines often don't make you completely immune, but make the infection so mild that it's not a problem. Airbags and seatbelts don't mean you'll always walk away a 40mph car crash, but they help a lot.

I didn't know it was anywhere near 1/3rd of the population

Jumping Jehoshaphat I had no idea it was anywhere near to 1/3rd of the population who said they wouldn't be taking it. That's much higher than I thought. I suppose they're worried because it's been developed so quickly
I've actually Googled it (rather than making it up) and I'm wrong, probably closer to 1 in 5, but I suspect that the actual proportion will be lower.
