We live in a house built in the 1970s with no dodgy past. (having said that we are on top of the iste of a bttleground between the romans and ancient brits!)
last week i was in our new loft conversion ironing my trousers for my little girls christening and as i looked around the bedside light (its one of those touch ones rather than a switch) came on. spooky i thought!
during the week shes not been too well and while i was comforting her while she was crying, again in our bedroom in the loft conversion, her musical cot toy came playing music, which imediatly calmed her down and sent her to sleep (she normally takes ages to calm at the moment and needs various distractions as she is teething) now before we blame my dodgy electrics its battery powered.

tonight my wife was standing in the hallway and the landing light came on by itself.

my wife thinks its her old nan keeping watch over our little one (an idea i quite like) but its all a bit spooky!

In my mates old house the kettle and tv used to switch on, even when not plugged in. I never saw it, but several reliable witnesses did on more than one occasion. (true)

Not all ghosts are nasty, some are quite nice. Look at Casper for example.

Has anyone in your house got a head that revolves 360 degrees?

I beleive my old house was haunted. When I used to work nights, and my ex missus was alone in the place, there were several strange sightings. Neighbours used to report a strange ghost like figure coming out the front door at about 7 a.m. But it wasn't me cause I never got home till 8. Spooky huh?

Hope this helps.

There are unexplained goings on in many houses.

My sister used to live in a house with some other students, it was a 1960s three-storey terrace.

The girl in the room above was either dispraxic or aspergic (can't remember which), so they assumed the frequent banging of furniture in her room was just her doing her thing and no-one ever questionned her on it. Her room was also full of religious paraphenalia: crucifixes on the walls and so forth.

One night, my sister was watching a DVD in her room with one of the other students. The banging started... except they were the only ones in the house. After a while, they went up the stairs, the banging carried on in the room. They plucked up the courage, and threw open the door to the bedroom and turned on the light. The noise stopped immediately. Weird.

Quite freaked out by this they went back downstairs... guess what? Banging starts again. They went back up, did the same again.

By this point they were getting really quite scared. They remembered an old Ouija board they found behind my sister's wardrobe when they moved in, and gave it a go. If you can believe the outcome of the board, it was a girl called Mary.

The fact the Ouija board was in the house suggests a previous resident might have been disturbed as well.

Adam, now you are scaring me too :) Reminds me of the time in the 60's my aunt lived in a 16th century farm-house in somerset. There was often a baby's cry heard in the attic (old servants quarters) even though no baby was in the house. My grandad, a natural born sceptic always mocked the idea of it being a ghost, until he stayed over one night. He was woken in the early hours to find the old heavy bedstead lifting on and off the floor. He never stayed there again.

I wish I hadn't recounted that tale now, as I am at home alone, and the witching hour is upon us :(

Freddie, how did you know it was uncle ernie? Are we long-lost relatives?

Ernie the milkman--Benny Hill. or it could have been Two Ton Ted from Teddington

Yeah, but Freddie, I understood the Ernie thing, but who the hell is 2 ton ted?

I'm sure we must be related, cause there aint that many Anarchists stupid enough to be on a forum at this time of night. :D

What, you mean the fastest milkman in the west? Just about. I'm 33, but never appreciated Benny Hill. And now I know everyone is gonna shoot me down in flames.
