Assume I am Polish. I have the right to enter Britain due to the politics of Europe that allow freedom of movement.

Now assume I am Ethiopian. I have no right to enter Britain due to my status of being the 'wrong' race.
As an Ethiopian I am discriminated against due to my race.

Is that racism? You tell me.

I would say no it isn't racist to deny the (imaginary) Ethiopian access to the UK, under the circumstances you describe.

The freedom of movement you mention within the EU is only for the citizens of the EU memberstates.

An Ethiopian is no more entitled to this benefit than an American or why is, it is nothing whatsoever to do with his colour or race though. It is because he isn't an EU citizen and very lucky he is too.

we havent fully embraced the eu and i dont think we ever will

I think your barking up the wrong tree with this Ethiopian / Pole thing. like David says above, by being members of the EU, we have a reciprocal agreement with Poland whereby they can come and work here and we can go and work there with no bureaucracy. Once Turkey join the EU, the same will apply there.

The reason that Ethiopia isn't allowed is nothing to do with race, it is to do with nationality, and the geography of where that nation lies. I haven't got unfettered acces to just turn up and work anywhere outside the EU, but its nothing to do with racism....

Joe wasn't saying it is racism. He merely posed a question. Who knows what he thinks. He never gives a properly thought out opinion of his own. He never answers his own questions.

I was going to make the point about geography/it's-not-race but couldn't be bothered. Well done Johnny_t.
