Hi all,

My Baxi 836 boiler relatively new works all fine with the nest thermostat for heating using opentherm but when it comes to regulating the temperature of the hot water it will always go to 68 degrees (assume max) rather than the temp set from the nest.

I assume this is something to do with open therm, has anyone had any luck with this?

Thanks

So the Baxi 836 is a combi boiler and you're trying to change the temp via the Nest? Not sure that will work.

I came across this once with a 3rd Gen Nest, but AFAIK it was never resolved. Here's the info from Nest.

"In many cases, your Nest thermostat should be able to control water temperature with a combi boiler that’s OpenTherm compliant. So, you can turn up the water temperature in the winter for a warmer bath or shower, and turn it down in the summer to feel more comfortable in hot weather or to help save energy. However, because OpenTherm standards can vary, your boiler might not be able to do this. If this is the case, you should be able to set the water temperature manually on your combi boiler."

So this is probably one for the Nest helpline. They should be able to confirm compatibility with your boiler. +44(0) 808 169 2307 - Available 0800 - 1900 GMT Monday to Friday and 0900 - 1700 Saturday and Sunday

Thanks will give them a call to confirm.
It's a bit of a joke really as opentherm works on heating but not on the hot water side, obviously if you wire this up as a traditional thermostat then you can control the hot water temp from the boiler controls.

a lot of stuff doesnt work with baxi open therm and baxi products are required to get it to work properly
Had the boiler about 2 years and only realised when looking at the boiler with ms in the shower. Should of been fixed by now right?
