Lineker and the BBC, the perfect culture war to draw the blue wall back to the tories. Lineker's gone quiet, probably negotiating his exit package (for which read breach of contract package) with the beeb. He will (ought to) make a lot out of them.

Blup

I prefer Jeff Stelling in any case.

MoTD was better than usual, same 20 minutes football but no irritating shouty commentators, and even more wonderfully, didn't have to endure the same tedious boring old has-beens in Liniker&Sheerer waffling on about nothing, they're just there to fill up the rest of the progamme, 20 mins football, 60 minutes waffling.

May be, if the beeb stopped wasting vast sums of money on tedious bores like linekar, then they could buy more football to watch.

Language leads to actions. Gary Leneker is not the first person to criticise the language used by the government. We've already had attacks on asylum seekers, and authorities expect more.

"Several charitable organisations have now signed an open letter criticising "inflammatory language" and policies that "demonise" people seeking refuge."

We are seeing a repeat of events from the 1930s, when refugees were rebranded as enemy aliens and criminals, and often rounded up and shipped off to far away lands where they have no human rights or support of any kind, essentially sent to an open prison thousands of miles from family and friends.
