Really like the Japanese reliability, but the interiors let them down.

That's why it's such a shame the Rover/Honda alliance fell apart. You got Japanese engineering and reliability but also a nice interior.

When I first drove Japanese cars in the late 80s, I was shocked at how much nicer they were to drive than Escorts, Astras and Fiestas. Sweet, revvy engines, slick precise gearboxes, light steering and neat handling. All the controls seemed to work in harmony, whereas on the Fords you had a heavy accelerator, a feather light clutch, a mushy brake pedal, a gearbox which felt like you were waving a wand, heavy steering and awful handling.

You are getting it. Same engine, same suspension, same electronics, same brakes, different trim.

As a present I would have either. If I was buying I wouldn't have either. Simple enough ?
You know they don't have same suspensions, electronics, brakes, etc.
As said, same platform doesn't mean same car.

Interesting that as a mechanic I don't know that, and that you know they are different

When and if I can be bothered I will link you to some information. But in the meantime check out things like shock absorbers, brake parts, filters, belts and so on, and look at what vehicles they fit.

neither if I was buying.I

not the same price though are they. Audi has a better image, and probably better trim. But comfort wise and driving wise, no different.

I have a mechanic to do that for me. He pi$$es himself when people come out with the same car different badge waffle. (y)
He's really laughing at you for paying over the odds for a Skoda Superb, thinking your a bit of a player with a 4 year old "S Line".

Price, the way they're refined, 4wd system, seat comfort, handling, gadgets, availability of powerful engines, availability of luxurious interiors, just to name a few.
I think you're imagining it. You paid more for it, so you're feeling is that it is better.

It's all from the VW parts bins. I have seen someone strip down an Audi A6 drivers seat and it was just like any other VAG seat frame with VAG foam on top.

I can guarantee that you will find Skodas with all of that and you won't pay through the conk for the rings on the car.

Woman's drug dealing empire exposed when she was caught speeding in her Audi, which stank of cannabis.

Oh dear, the press perpetuating the bias - how surprising! ;)

If the car doesn't happen to be a BMW, or an Audi (or other 'high class' car), mysteriously it often becomes a 'suspicious car', or a 'vehicle':

I looked at some of those reports in your link, and none bar one of them stated what the make of the car was, so how would you know whether the car in question in each report was or wasn't an Audi or BMW?

Not true.
My A6 seat doesn't fit in the A4 of same year.
I tried because I wanted to swap interiors.
So here comes my favourite punchline...
Boll@x!
