Deportations are up, they are working on it.If not, what are they waiting for - send them on their way.

Why are people still paying a fortune, risking their lives and coming by dinghy then if there is no chance of claiming asylum? Surely that’s got to be the best deterrent of all? Do they know something we don’t?Deportations are up, they are working on it.
It’s all most like there’s a way around it.Why are people still paying a fortune, risking their lives and coming by dinghy then if there is no chance of claiming asylum? Surely that’s got to be the best deterrent of all?
Disappear into the black economy? It’s all most like there’s a way around it.
It might be beyond Denny
The Tories didn't think it through, did they. If we can't deport them we get to house and feed them, forever. Great plan. Why are people still paying a fortune, risking their lives and coming by dinghy then if there is no chance of claiming asylum? Surely that’s got to be the best deterrent of all? Do they know something we don’t?
They haven’t been able to claim asylum since July 2023, when the Tory “illegal migration act” was put into place. Why are people still paying a fortune, risking their lives and coming by dinghy then if there is no chance of claiming asylum? Surely that’s got to be the best deterrent of all? Do they know something we don’t?
..so stopping their ability to claim asylum made no difference
Most fled persecution and, for their own reasons, a small minority wanted to get to the UK. It's a worldwide problem and we should play our part.So why do thousands still risk their life’s to make it to the uk, leaving safe country after safe country ?
I agree we should do our part, I always have. Most fled persecution and, for their own reasons, a small minority wanted to get to the UK. It's a worldwide problem and we should play our part.
The same reason they've always kept on coming to the UK. Desperation, lies and liars. Others want to seek out family members, relatives. Why are people still paying a fortune, risking their lives and coming by dinghy then if there is no chance of claiming asylum? Surely that’s got to be the best deterrent of all? Do they know something we don’t?
You mean "why do thousands still risk their lives to make it to the UK, leaving safe country after safe country where they can also work in the black economy"So why do thousands still risk their life’s to make it to the uk, leaving safe country after safe country ?
You’ve made my point for me…. Again!!
The black economy. Cheers Notchy
So you can’t answer my question ?You mean "why do thousands still risk their lives to make it to the UK, leaving safe country after safe country where they can also work in the black economy"
So the black economy is not the draw.
If it was they would go to Italy.....a country rather well known for its organised crime.
Language and family ties are key reasons for them coming to UK.
Of course there is the black economy in the UK and organised crime gangs here do recruit asylum seekers....but there's no evidence it's a high percentage.
Correct. The usual RWR start throwing their arms about claiming .."they're all coming here". When actually the truth is thousands do come here but millions don't.for their own reasons, a small minority wanted to get to the UK.
The fact is - lots of people are coached to state the right thing, in order to be granted the right to remain.the govt figures state the majority of people claiming asylum are genuine
you have ZERO evidence to prove otherwise.....apart from your "gut feelings"
Why can't we deport them? The Tories didn't think it through, did they. If we can't deport them we get to house and feed them, forever. Great plan.
So, after leaving France where they could apply for asylum, they come here where they can’t. That just makes them illegal immigrants then. Let’s stop calling them asylum seekers from now on.They haven’t been able to claim asylum since July 2023, when the Tory “illegal migration act” was put into place.
If that’s “got to the best deterrent of all” how come the numbers didn’t plummet?
In fact if you deduct the Albanian numbers from the 2022 figure, the numbers are pretty much the same…..so stopping their ability to claim asylum made no difference.
