Bora TDI clutch pedal clip broken

I've looked at some pedals on ebay and the box sections that the white clip goes into does indeed have a plate for the clip to push against.
That's been the problem and can now be permanently rectified - many thanks.
In my defense (rather meekly), it wasn't me who repaired the clutch the first time it went and when I did repair it the 2nd time it went, I'd made the assumption that it was the black clip that retained it when it fell out as I dropped the bulkhead trim cover. It never occurred to me there was a broken off metal plate missing from the pedal.
I must admit though, the black clips I've been fitting have done a sterling job of operating the clutch.

I remember welding the bracket back on (51 plate Golf TDI) but I don't recall taking the pedal off to do it

John they are not hard to get off welding it in situ must have been tricky!
DIYSpanner - you know what I mean about cable tieing the spring? Cable tie it like they are spring compressor something on a strut, makes this awkward job a lot easier!!
Also make sure you don't forget to remove the spacers from the old pedal!!

New pedal on order at local VW as a I don't have a welder or any metal plate.
Actually wasn't that hard to remove and your point about the spring is noted - many thanks.
I'll post again when the job is done, hopefully with a gleeful happy ever after ending and no more clutch pedal bother.

Job done!
Awkward as bloody hell to do, but done.
Spoke to the fella on the VW parts counter this morning and he stated the end plate breaking off is a common problem so evidently VW can't be bothered to fix things. The recent issue of them fiddling the emissions I suppose typifies their attitude.
Hopefully now the clutch pedal will work until the car goes to the scrappy where someone might salvage to replace their broken pedal.

For anyone interested, when doing work on the pedals inside the car or anything under the dash, rather than bruise your rib cage on the door well, get a length of board and a box the same height as the door well, then put the board on the door well and box, then you can lie on the board in relative comfort.
