Trump already stated if he wins he is going to change the rules to suit himself. It is going to be his vision and version of democracy. America is such a vast place with massive differing views, and poor and rich people. He has a large following. To the Republicans, Socialism is the enemy. They have a business plan and profit to be extracted. If you get in their way, you will be pushed aside and economically punished.
Trump is no Republican : he merely uses the supporting network it provides for his own gain.
In reality, he's figurehead of the MAGA movement.

Apparently POTUS has wide powers to recall retired senior military to active military service and to punish with imprisonment for perceived wrongdoing. He has directly threatened a former General who criticised him over the January riots
Would public opinion let him get away with it ?

The project news is a little misleading. The claim for fame of the group who produced it is that a previous one prior to his last election did predict his actions. How many right / wrongs - pass.
However the group does contain a number of his advisors.
Powers schmowers: if he did that, that would surely start civil disturbance as a minimum.

The new york times poll did have a section that bought up a lot of different polls and pointed out that some were biased. Initially it wouldn't work. Now it's gone. Might need to subscribe to see it.
It shows the over all average, the swing states and the electoral college aspect. These all I think based on averages.
