I grew up in Walthamstow and have friends still living there. They are of the opinion that the violence stems from greed for money and a total lack of respect for human life. Two factors that pervade deeply into some sections of modern society.

The authorities there are fighting crime but are restricted to only using ethical and legal counter measures while the criminal have no ethics and a life has no value at all.

Everything is stacked against the authorities. What action can they take against a 12 year old found carrying illegal items for a gang. The 12 year lives in fear of reprisals against her or her family if she refuses to obey the gangs orders.

I know it's **** everywhere, but this knife crime is really starting to **** me off.
It's getting out of hand and the lazy, thieving tories continue to do nothing constructive to tackle the problem.

I think most reasonable people would agree with your sentiments jonbey, these thieves are scum but let's be honest now, most of these criminals are first generation or the children of first generation migrants. This is what happens when civilised countries adopt unfettered unchecked mass immigration. Tonnes of human garbage have been allowed to flood into this country as though someone opened the tap on an sewer. Unfortunately more police and more funding is not going to have an impact, the damage has been done.
