Me too. "One of 700 songs played". Coincidence

I get it that the particular piece of music is a popular choice. What is your point other than compounding what I said?

The song is associated with Hitler, so the question is why chose that as an anthem, and why should people want to stand for it

Whilst I dont agree there is any hidden agenda for the EU using Ode to Joy, adlplumbing makes a valid point that does deserve discussion.

Its not correct to say it was only 1 of 700 songs......Odeo to Joy was Hitlers favorite piece of music.

And there is a deeper significance to the music than it 'just being popular'.

Given the connections Ode to Joy has in terms of the Nazi connection and its connections to Germany, I think its not unreasonable to question whether the EU should use it as their anthem.

Hitler liked wearing a grey suit. At smart events it seems to have been his favourite colour.

Tell me about your "hitler's favourite" proposal.

I don't agree that it is generally considered that there is an association between a piece of music or a colour of clothing, and one single person of the many millions who like it.

not even the plumber thought of it until he recently saw the idea being circulated

I expect you'll find it on anti-EU sites.

Your talking crap again John.

Would you carry on this argument if the Brexit party chose Odeo to Joy as their
anthem

I'd hope they could spell it.

The piece of music is now generally known to be associated with the EU; and the words, with its ambitions. That is the meaning it conveys. Particularly as regards relaxing rigid borders and fostering an approach of co-opereration and mutual respect rather than warfare. "All mankind shall be as brothers."

I don't see any prospect of the brexers adopting it.

You are trying to create an association that does not exist.

where did you pick up this idea? I don't believe that it is being circulated for any reason other that to reinforce anti-EU sentiment among anti-EU campaigners. Tell me the story about straight bananas again.

Returning to the topic "Brexit Party a bunch of tw@s"

Just like Hitler

The grey suit analogy is not comparable , given that it was / is one of only three or four choices.
There are literally millions of songs from which to choose, or even compose a fresh and unadulterated one. Shouldn't have been too pricey.

Yes it is. There were hundreds of songs played at the concentration camps. Should the EU vet them and ban them all? Is it morally right for people to own German shepherd dogs because Hitler had one?

Just because a popular classic has tenuous links to Adolph, it does not mean it should never be played. That would be silly. Murdering millions of Jews in concentration camps however, should never be repeated. Get a grip Notch.
