Never mind. They've got to live somewhere so the UK is as good as anywhere. They all work for near nothing in posh hotels and restaurants, which makes it cheaper for the tourist to come to London to spend their dosh.
It will never change because the governments (any of them) don't want it to change.

Four hundred to remove, at one a day, takes 7.7 years? Anyone who has grasped how many days there are in a year can see that that's drivel. Unless these 'officers' only work one day a week.

Sorry B, I was commenting on the BBC's figures that you quoted, not picking on you. I'm sure you know how many days there are in a year!

Unfortunately many figures that the BBC and other authoritative sources quote quite often literally don't add up, let alone make sense even if they did.

Rgds.

I have temporary brain disfunction but if each officer has 400 to deal with and removes 1 a day it would only take 400 days. Would add up if it were 1 a week.

Somebody I know who is well connected at the British High Commission in Lagos, heard that the Visa section there now estimates that 2 million Nigerians are "at large" illegally in the UK.

I'd rather believe their figure than the government's.
