Church Scandal gone global.

News flash: People who aren't Catholic Priests have also interefered with minors. Wasn't a nursery school teacher convicted the other day for such acts? Can we vilify everyone in the education system as well?

As long as we can conveniently group offenders under one giant broad heading (in this case Priests) we can all sit back and gloat at how bad they are.

1. The education system has not systematically covered it up for decades
2. The prevalence of abuse is very high in comparison
3 THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK FOR GOD FFS !

Cover ups, by their very definition, are not widely publicised.

2. The prevalence of abuse is very high in comparison

Agreed. Though abusing less children is still not good. At what point are we allowed to be outraged?

3 THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK FOR GOD FFS !

If someone can believe in a God, I am sure they can also find justification in their acts.

My point is that the term 'Catholic Priest' implies all of these people are more similar to one another than they are to you or I (assuming you're not a Priest). This is very incorrect. My wife and I had pre-marriage 'lessons' with a Catholic Priest who was married with a daughter - this is permitted in many parts of the Church (in this case the gentleman was Russian Catholic).

This hate/anger against a vast range of people due to the actions of a small number is discrimination.

And no, I am neither catholic nor a priest

What?

So Hitler and his inner circle were actively discriminated against.?

Sorry, I see how that could have been read! Let me try again:

If somebody truely believes in God, I doubt they would commit acts which they see as a sin. I am sure that in some way they have justified their actions to themselves.

Better?

News flash: People who aren't Catholic Priests have also interefered with miners. [/i] are.
I`d have paid money to seen Maggie interfering with Brillo Head Scargill:cool: Any other issues need clearing up :?: The zomby Chippy was right about one thing. That if any one causes a child to sin - it would be better that they had a millstone tied round their neck, and thrown off a pier - or similar. Thank God he wasn`t a plasterer - he wouldn`t have turned the other cheek - he`d have taken on Rome single handed  Old poncy pilot would`ve not needed a plane to fly.

I'm sure you will be able to provide evidence that supprts this statement.

In my experience in schools over the last 20+ years, any member of staff accused of abuse has been instantly investigated by the police, charged where appropriate, imprisoned and had his/her licence to work with children revoked permanently (by being placed on the "sex register").

The one exception that I have ever seen was, curiously enough, a priest working in a school who was accused of inappropriate contact with some young boys. The outcome of this was that it wasn't investigated by the authorities, and the priest was sent by the catholic church to another school outside of the local area. At the time of this (30+ years ago), I was a pupil in the school and knew the accusers well - I can only say that I trust their word implicitly.

The priesthood has been demonstrated to attract a certain type of personality type often people who are sexually confused or dont wish to acknowledge their sexual preferences

Hence the whole marry christ , Celibacy approach to life of Sexual denial.
I know of 3 gay irishmen who trained to be priests and subsequently left to COME OUT much later in life.

How many have stayed in for years especially in less enlightened times and found the temptation too much

BLOODY LOADS APPARENTLY!

People who CHOOSE a celibate lifestyle which is by nature UNNATURAL are MORE likely to be F**ed UP about sex.

Im not saying that ALL priests are Abusers but the LIKELEHOOD is much higher than in other professions/vocations

And then on top of this the people at the TOP of the CHURCH ... DENY and HIDE it .....................SHAME ON THEM

back in the 1960 pe teachers were the worst, always forceing you to showw them your bits when having a shower, plus i was attacked by a maths teacher on my way home, bit of a long story.

We can only form our opinions through personal experiences. I cannot comment on PE teachers behaviour in the 60's, and you haven't (and may well not) told us whether your attack from a maths teacher was sexual, nor the eventual outcome.

the only thing I can state with any confidence is that times have changed in the world of education, but it would seem that this isn't entirely the case withi the church.
