...well this subject is getting a bit big now. Pedophilia is a mental disorder that has a lot of sufferers, some take the step towards being child molestors for a huge range of different reasons. Obviously people dealing with children are more likely to make that jump as they have the access.

I think the biggest worry is the covering up of the cases.

Every big city in north america with a large catholic community the diocese has been declared bankrupt due to compensation claims . This is not one off`s but wide spread abuse hidden by those that started at the bottom(how true is that) and worked their way up to be the rulers of the church.

Funny how the celibacy thing makes them want them to abuse young boys whenever i went without sex i still wanted to do the opposite sex not vulrenable kids.

Nothing to do with it being catholics or the church but a conspiracy of secrecy by people in power... Offenders protecting offenders. If it is found out the pope covered up abuse then he should be jailed along with the lowest of the low . Will it happen NO because money will stop it

I think it has everything to do with being catholic, the whole nature of how the organisation is set up and the core belief system i.e. Celibacy and freaky approach to sex is what makes it more likely

What's with that confessional box? Someone pouring out their heart, sometimes about their sexual activities ("sins"), while some sad deviant sits on the othe side of a partition, possibly jerking himself off and passing judgement. All too much like a "gloryhole" arrangement, which if you google will no doubt give an explanation.

One of the priests who taught at our school used to take confessionals from us kids. This is supposed to be done with complete confidentiality. How come the next day the head collared some miscreants who had remained "at large" and who had only ever admitted their "crimes" in a confessional. This priest was a member of Opus Dei - and they enjoyed self flagellation. F*cking wierdos

I think you've hit the nail on the head , it's the weird unnatural aproach with celibacy that makes it all the more dangerous.
I mean how can so many people refrain from sex it's a very strong urge for all creature but in humans is also for pleasure. You block that urge it's gonna be very difficult.( a heck of a lot of Onaning going on)
But as somone rightly stated if your hard up for a while you should like the look of the opposite sex in any case, unless your unnatural tendencies kick in

If somebody truely believes in God, I doubt they would commit acts which they see as a sin. I am sure that in some way they have justified their actions to themselves.

better,, But by no means can any human who believes in god use it as an excuse and/or be free of all sin as being human and on this earth is through sin. But then sins are not all the same, some are forgivable some are not.

i can see no mention by myself of anyone's religion.

i think you made a sarcastic remark earlier when i said i do not like to see other people's beliefs insulted. or was it another 1/3 of the 'Holy Trinity' and you just joined in? either way you don't present rational arguments or make any useful additions to these topics. your post are visible for all to see, except those which you have deleted or had deleted by the mods because of their offensive content.
