Class I or Class II ?

So, what is it about that device that provides the Class II requirements. The terminals are not double-insulated nor does the cover look reinforced. In fact, it looks no better than the accessories which lead to the original query.
I agree totally, but it does bear a Class II marking. I think it's probably quite a 'bad' example (a good example of a seemingly 'iffy' thing!), since most class II things do seem to have either double insulation (seemingly not very common these days) or pretty tough single insulation, which I would probably be happy to regard as 'reinforced'. The device I pictured just looks (at least, to me) generally very iffy in terms of Class II eligibility, with or without its 'earth' terminal!

Kind Regards, John.

As I've mentioned before, I expect the definition of 'reinforced insulation' in the standard is probably less hardcore than we would like to think.

You may well be right - but if that is 'reinforced' insulation, I hate to think what 'standard' insulation might look like!
