To call it the China virus, or as Trump calls it, Chinyah, is another way to discredit, apportion blame, and try to give them a bad name. A person in China caught it, the nation didn't make it!

But why only care homes? Most old people live in their own homes, or in homes with their children - none of these will be protected.

Ideally anyone coming into contact with the most vulnerable should be tested but the problem seems to be the tests take to long to analyse.
A simpler and quicker test would avoid the need for lockdowns.

WHO have the answers but apparently but since them wading in with their size 10's re ebola they've adopted a softly softly approach means they don't want to offend or interfere with world leaders

There are some conspiracy nuts who claim that's exactly what the US did.

I don't think calling it the China virus helps matters. It's simple but so is Covid and at least that doesn't pretend it's the first virus to come out of China. I do thinking that Trump uses it as a way to distract from any possible blame he might be in for over his handling of the outbreak.

Does someone want to tell me what WHO have recommended as a clear and defined strategy on how we tackle Covid19? To minimised risk and death rates we are witnessing, why is every country coming up with different ideas?? That WORLD HEALTH ORG we all pay to look after our HEALTH.

The tests take about half an hour to run and results are coming back next day now. But testing everyone, every day, who comes into a nursing home is pretty demanding in terms of numbers and logistics.

If we could test everyone in the entire UK once a day we could probably get rid of any new Covid-19 infections in a few weeks. But thats not possible.

The news has gone pretty flat now so they move onto something else. Expect more and blame game is bound to be used.

Trump has just cut the USA's WHO contribution by 15%. Leave you to guess why. He says mishandling followed by China etc

Seems fair to me. What with so many Americans living a surviavlist / prep lifestyle, eating roadkill and whatever other animals they can legally take from the wild, it could just as easily happen in America. I bet Trump and co wouldn't like it if we called it the American virus, if it did. The Spanish flu didn't start in Spain, i think it was brought to Europe by American troops.
As far as i know viruses dont have national identities.
One thing though, China should be held accountable for these so called wildlife markets where these viruses are rife.
Animal welfare is no longer the domain of soppy animal lovers, ill treatment and exploitation of wildlife by China and other foreign countries is a global health threat.
