Those are called 'drop links' or 'stabilisers' .......... they connect the anti roll bar to the suspension struts. The ball joints on the ends may be worn, and they cause a knocking.
The anti roll bar is in fact the bottom bit......it has rubber bushes and steel brackets that couple it to the body shell.
I'll hazard a guess and say it's the anti roll bar bushes that are causing the issue here as they are D shaped, but we can't see one here!
John :)

Hi John,

Stepping back a bit. Is this usually refer to the front or rear side of the car?

You can have an anti roll bar at the front or rear. Based on your title it could be the rear another photo of the rear and lower down at the front will help. Something like this?

Your photo shows us the front end of the car Jonny, we can see the driveshaft and the track rod for the steering.
I don’t know if there is an anti roll bar on the rear of the CRV, but the failure sheet would indicate that there is!

I’ve seen worn anti-roll bar bushes in my time. Never seen one 'excessively' worn. When VOSA used to run refresher courses, the discussion on excessive wear always came up. The advice we were given was that the mot definition of 'excessive' wear was that it literally 'about to fail'. If you have the time and inclination, I’d appeal it.

Which one you think is it on the photos?

This one?

On post 9, you can see the rubber bushes that secure the anti roll bar - I guess these are what they are talking about.
The other small stabilisers.......we can’t tell from here how worn they are.

From google search under D bushes fro Honda 07 just found that they show that little rubber which has a D shape. Do you reckon need to replace the metal bracket too or just the rubber?

To be honest I do not see any movement and not sure if the chap is taking the **** as they quoted £200 for it

You’ll only see some play if you get a lever in there and heave away......£200 seems robbery though!
New brackets would do no harm, but I’d take care and patience with those bolts......full hexagon sockets are vital, and spray some penetrating fluid in there too, and give it a while to act.
Heat may help you, but of course the bush will be destroyed.
