CRV 07 MK3 MOT failed - Antiroll bar linkage or bush excessively worn rear ( Both rear D Bushes)

Is the bolt welder to the metal plate? Can I snap it or just drill through and put a nut to the top?

Yeah, they are welded. Just drill through and use a longer bolt and nylock nut.

When I did some it was the rears bonking.

As the make and model wasn't mentioned, I did wonder if the car in question was some exotic with rear a/r bar - and the D bushes on that are the ones that failed.

Also, if drilling out the broken bolt and fitting new nut and bolt - do they need to be something like 10.9 high tensile automotive grade items as it's for suspension? Or am I being pedantic?

EDIT>>>> Just looked again and it seems the OP is doing the D bushes on the rear. What do the front ones look like? Can't see them in the photos. Wouldn't the tester have had his yellow crayon out and marked failed items?

I'm guessing not. Anti roll bar loads aren't usually that high. However, if there are any visible markings on the head of the OE fastener, it's obviously worth trying to match them.

Hopefully you told them it only took you 20 minutes including a tea break.

I given up arguing a while ago. Better to walk away and stay away from them.

You can argue as much as you want they don't care. You waste time.

Pointless with those croks

But the £200 quote was probably taking account of the fact that they may have to spend a couple of hours getting sheared bolts out. Mechanics labour rates these days are high anywhere from £50 plus an hour and dealers can be £100 plus!

Glad you got it done ok.

10 minutes on a ramp for a mechanic in a garage to do that job, 15 if the bolts snap.

Any sensible garage quoting that job would quote at least an hour, and hope they could do it in less. 1 broken bolt can easily chew up time. 4 broken bolts could really eat that time up

Did they say £200 but could be less, or £ 200 regardless?

People are keeping their cars longer for several reasons. As a result, garages are busy. Brother needed a simple/quick job doing recently - new starter motor. Had to wait over 3 weeks for his garage to have time. Not surprised labour rates are increasing.

No that was a fixed price
