CRV 07 MK3 MOT failed - Antiroll bar linkage or bush excessively worn rear ( Both rear D Bushes)

You’ll only see some play if you get a lever in there and heave away......£200 seems robbery though!
New brackets would do no harm, but I’d take care and patience with those bolts......full hexagon sockets are vital, and spray some penetrating fluid in there too, and give it a while to act.
Heat may help you, but of course the bush will be destroyed.
John

If bushes need to be replaced what the point if the get destroyed by the heat? Guess is the only part that get damaged and need to be replaced correct?

If you decide to use heat to shift those bolts, the bushes will be destroyed so you are at the point of no return.
Maybe talk to Mottie, things don't look bad at all but I'm not a tester.
John :)

You have to pay for another mot anyway if you appeal it. You will get the fee back if your appeal is upheld. The station and tester will get points/sanctions against them if it is upheld. They won’t want that. The inspectorate will take it to a different station to test it. As I said, excessive means it is about to fail. Go back to the station, play dumb, tell them a mechanic has looked at it, can find nothing excessively worn and they’ve told you to appeal. Ask the mot station for a VT17 form. I can almost guarantee they'll offer to have another look and decide to pass it with an advisory. If they don't back down, you haven’t lost anything anyway and can go elsewhere.

The only question that hasn't been asked is, do you get a knocking noise whislt driving, from that area?

From the photos they don't look bad enough to class as a fail, but how much movement are they allowing ?

If you get a knocking noise then they need replacing. It would then be pedantic to appeal against the mot, but if not then there is no need to replace and an appeal would be justified.

edited to add.

If they are quoting £200 for them, it is worth asking them to point out what wear they think is excessive, and if not ask for the vt17 form.

The dvsa advice is......

Discuss the test result with the MOT centre before you appeal. They can help you understand how they assessed your vehicle to the standards in either the:

Appeal if you still think the result is wrong after talking to the MOT centre.

If you repair your vehicle before you appeal, it can affect the outcome of the appeal.

Dont bother appealing, you wont suceed for something so trivial and its an opinion of the tester. If you go somewhere else I am sure the fail will show up anyway.

Just change them all, your looking at £50 for the parts and an hour or two on the driveway.

Those thngs are incredibly cheap (ebay etc £10-15 a pair) and very easy to change. If you're mindful of the springs.
When I did some it was the rears bonking.

Sound like quicker to replace those. Hopefully bolt will undo without much truble.

WD 40 already sprayed
