Jeezus, I can't walk outside because of Covid, and now I can't drive around because my forearms will be profiled by the plod?

Full burka it is!

No, but as I said, we need to take into account what it's like to have lived most of your life with casual racism. Everything is heightened at the moment.. fingers crossed it will all settle with an outcome good for everyone.
what constitutes a good outcome?

Having just watched the video again the police were as nice as pie, not really sure why all the hysteria.

It's a mistake not stopping when asked by the police, no matter the reason!

And the police made a mistake with dawn butler, so why is it such a big issue?

Personally I don't think it is. As I keep saying, this whole thing is heightened at the moment, perhaps understandably.

Is there a full video, or is that the only bit do you know? Seems to come to an abrupt end.
Okaaaay........ :)

I've only seen part of the video, it always seems to end when she talks about racial profiling, I not found any others

Hysteria? I agree woodies overreacting a bit but I'm not sure anyone involved in this is hysterical.

Why is it a news worthy item? Because an MP being pulled over for driving whilst black is unusual and undercuts most of the normal line about how they probably deserved it.

In this example we've discovered that the police can't spell and don't know the rules on what you can and can't do with window tints. Either they're really incompetent or they're making **** up to avoid admitting what really happened.

You have some research to support your assumptions?
If not, it is an assumption, a preconceived conjecture.

If a person makes an assumption and comments on that assumption, based on, seemingly, nothing but prejudice, it is perfectly valid to question the basis of that assumption.
The fact that you don't like being questioned about your assumptions, indicates that your assumptions will not stand up to scrutiny.

Persistently repeating your assumption does not make it factual, it makes you prejudiced. The prejudice also restricts the discussion, and holds it back.
Only when we have proved that the assumption is valid, or dismissed it, can we genuinely move forward. Until then we are basing our discussions on myth and prejudice.
Here we go. Do i need to find some internet statistic to prove that there is a perception that a proportion of black women seem to have an attitude? Your statement that we can't discuss something until its proven does not make your statement factual. Its just an attempt to shut down a discussion of a perception that is held by a number of people. Rather than asking why we hold that perception, you try to shut down the discussion by telling us that we're just wrong, prejudiced or racist.

Not all black women have an attitude, but there is a perception that a significant proportion of them certainly do. An attitude that is demonstrated by Dawn Butler's smug grin as she 'educates' the police and repeatedly talks over the policeman when he's trying to explain what he's doing. If she was to accept that unfortunately there is a profile of gang members, drug dealers, etc driving a particular type of car in a particular area and be more supporting towards what the police are trying to do, that might start a culture change that enables the police to work with the black community and do away with the current perception that the police are institutional racist.

Unfortunately, there is an attitude of distrust and discrimination from a proportion of the black community towards the police which in turn helps perpetuate the never ending circle of mutual distrust that we find ourselves in. Until all sides are willing to accept that there is fault on BOTH sides and it is not just the police's fault, things will never change.

why drive around looking for trouble?.
Is it not as obvious to you as it is to me?
if police drive behind me with the intention of pulling me over , I pull over, why drive 150 yards then pull over?
I look for a suitable safe place to pull over, knowing full well that there is no urgency, no risk to life (excluding that from the police) and knowing that a few seconds, or metres will make not the slightest difference to the outcome.

Yes you do need to find some supporting evidence to justify your perception.
Otherwise it is simply prejudicial preconceived conjecture.

One could easily argue that there is a perception some women have an attitude, without mentioning the colour of their skin.
It would still be sexist, unless it was supported by some evidence to suggest the perception was justified.

Did the distrust of the police come first. or did the institutional racism of the police come first? Whose responsibility is it to remove that distrust of the police by the black community, and what is the best way to achieve it? By continuing to stop and search an unacceptable number of black people.

I was stopped by the Police more than once driving my Dad's van in the months after I'd passed my driving test cause I 'looked to young'. I had the doors on another van 'forcibly' opened late at night (in the local 'lovers lane) when the girl friend and I where 'enjoying' each other.
Was stopped more than once when I had new cars as a teenager.
Was stopped in my mid 40's just after moving to a new area, summer time & coastal holiday spot.

Yes, it was annoying or frustrating but not worth making a song and dance about 'cause all it would do is 'mark my card'. Afterwards, in every case (bar the 2nd above), on thinking about it I came to the conclusion it made my life safer.

no, you don't need to prove that people like you have prejudices against people.

We already know.
