yes,

i have been stopped many a time, mostly in my younger days as a "youth" for the types of car i was driving (i'm old now and dont drive any thing flashy any more), i never kicked off, it was much easier to just comply answer questions and then be on my way, took all of 10 minutes. sometimes the cops were legends and told stories and jokes while they were doing their checks. it's really something to not give a monkey's about.

there is various criteria police have to stop and search, in this case there is an initiative on so even for the slightest suspicion they will get stopped.

the reason this time was because of the area the car was seen being a high crime area and from being out of town.

It is my belief that when the police are undertaking an exercise to clamp down on gang, drug and knife crime, they run checks on all sorts of vehicles that fit the profile of those used by gangs etc and stop any that have something out of the ordinary about them.

In exactly the same way that when the are undertaking an exercise to clamp down on road tax and insurance avoidance, they pull over cars and vans that fit that profile.

You’d think an MP would back an anti knife/gang initiative and would proudly stand up and say "I've been stopped, happy to have been stopped and taken part in the initiative. Is your car a high performance BMW, Audi, Mercedes or VW or similar? Does it have blacked out rear windows? Is it of the type preferred by gang members or drug dealers?

You’ve given one example of one black MP being stopped. Now, about those 45,000 miles a year you are covering visiting friends and relative twice a week in East London. How much are you spending per year on fuel doing that?

A "youth" is often stopped because of their driving style, but funnily enough as people get older white people don't tend to get stopped as much as black people...

And I'm still waiting to hear why it is acceptable for a person to be stopped for 'being out of their area'...

After all that was the excuse given...

I thought we were all living in a united kingdom...

Or does that only apply to those who are in possession of a certain skin colour?
