Daytime running lights

My pet hate is when you have been patiently waiting for a queue of traffic to pass so that you can pull out and the very last car in the queue flashes you to come out in front of them. If they just carried on and got out of the f'ing way then you could have pulled out anyway.
Oh yes that is a good one.
Same as when a pedestrian presses the crossing button and I am the only car coming or they can see its a few cars and then nothing - why cant they just wait 20 seconds longer and let the run of cars pass. Its what I do when crossing and i can see the end of the stream of cars is coming rather than stopping 7 cars with engines ticking over - or even worse stop start puffing out extra fumes .

That's a word salad that needs deciphering
But none of it seems relevant to bikers and is referring to users without their own lighting benefiting from the car with DLR proving my point that the car is being seen but not the other user.

If you'd read the paragraph above it, you'd have seen that it specifically mentioned "...a pedestrian, a cyclist or a motorcyclist with or without lights."

Why do you think that pointless lighting is OK?
I don't , I like to drive a car in which I have control of the lights, wipers, brakes, etc Ive been driving for over 50 years and not needed all this usledd crap, test drove a new car the other day and approaching a roundabout braked for me, nothing else near me, the salesman said it probably thought I was going to collide with a bollard in the traffic island FFS

You are making my point for me --A motorcyclist without lights is obviously going to benefit from being near a car WITH lights. On that basis that they see the car but are still not seeing the biker are they - just the car that the biker is near.
Now put the bikers light on and out of those 3 lights - which 2 are the car and which 2 are closer for an idiot in the car distracted by kids in the back and the phone and the sat nav..

Ah that will explain why on a few occasions I have been behind a fairly new car who seem to randomly braking for no apparent reason whatsoever so much so that I was thinking it must be dogy wiring.

So they state "little statistical weight." and yet the study found a 4% increase. -- Like i said it has made the roads more dangerous for bikers and the study measured the danger to be 4% more

Depends if you are one of the 4%. They would quickly change their mind if they were one of those.

Some people just press the button, before even looking to see if there might be a need. Me, I feel safer walking a cross, ignoring the lights, some drivers go through against the red anyway.

The point of "little statistical significance" is that there may not even be a 4% at all.

You can't be "one of those", if the "those" doesn't exist.

Edited for typo

It seems you need a reminder.

I dont think DRL are a good idea, especially if they are dipped beam, ok if side lights.

Side lights as DRLs are pointless - they don't become visible before the vehicle itself does.

Same as in twilight, or light mist - I'm all for drivers not having full control of the lights if it stops the ones who are twts from not turning on appropriate ones.

I've known junctions where I'm trying to pull out onto a main road, and that road has a crossing nearby, where I've silently urged pedestrians to press the button even if they don't want to cross at all, so that the lights will go red, the traffic will stop, and I can pull out.

:D

There you go - you can sound like a normal person after all. If someone else had said that you would found some sort of reason to argue against them. - I actually agree with you on this one.

Even more difficult, pulling out at a T, with a 38' articulated vehicle, where the road curves back at both sides, limiting visible range, but I manage. Luckily, on my extreme left, is such a crossing, and it's an absolute godsend when the road is busy.

There have been occasions where I have half thought about jumping out and pressing the button myself
