Hmm good point. Do British gas usually do that?If it feeds the heating system, surely that should have been cleaned out and had a lid fitted when you had a new boiler last year?
Any heating engineer worth his salt should make sure the system is clean before fitting a new boiler. The header tank is part of that and usually contains plenty of muck. I’d be surprised if the manufacturer would entertain a claim for a fault if it found all that muck in it.Hmm good point. Do British gas usually do that?
Hmm yeah, thanks. We were pretty naive to it as we had the boiler done pretty much straight away. It's been past the years warranty for the heating system now too so it's only the boiler that is covered.Any heating engineer worth his salt should make sure the system is clean before fitting a new boiler. Yeah. No lid on the storage tank. There’s no other way they can get into the hot water system.Do the pictures help anyone understand why I'm getting dead bugs out of the hot tap?
Yes there is, it’s the cistern in the loft that doesn’t have a lid, which is completely separate from the dhw systemYeah. No lid on the storage tank. There’s no other way they can get into the hot water system.
Could be the overflow, which a bylaw 30 kit is there to prevent, as it has a mesh screen for the overflow for the very reason of which you’re sufferingDo the pictures help anyone understand why I'm getting dead bugs out of the hot tap?
So that’s an expansion tank, not a cold water storage tank then? The cold tank in the loft is filthy and lidless, but as I've said in my post we were told this was nothing to do with the hot water as it doesn't feed the hot water.
Yep, feed and expansion cistern. So that’s an expansion tank, not a cold water storage tank then?
Yes it's a fortic cylinder. I'll get some pics asap, thank you. The cold tank in the loft is filthy and lidless, but as I've said in my post we were told this was nothing to do with the hot water as it doesn't feed the hot water.
