Those old workmates are brilliant - don't chuck it away for goodness sake because you won't buy anything better. Repair is the way to go. My old workmate - I replaced the boards with bits left over from the kitchen worktop replacement - absolutely brilliant will probably last another decade or two. If you have any engineering skills then apply them because whatever repair is required it certainly won't be rocket science.
