a friend who went there to Boston ,
said he was drinking shandy strength ale all holiday , an was told to go on liquers /hard stuff if he wanted alcohol content in a chinwag with some locals there ...
he had to drink bottles of becks , to get a drink ...similiar to any high st pint here

Im sure he could of supped some home grown real ale there but didnt think he had enough Immodium for the after shock ...

so as not to stray from the topic of differences between UK and US, I'll answer this way......any subject that covers ie politics, sex, drinking, sexual preferences...to name a few, are hinted at but rarely just "blurted out" lest you find a barrel up your nose or someone punches your lights out or you find yourself being whisked away to rehabilitate. It is refreshing to hear someone just say what's on his mind and still be accepted. We don't all want to agree.......there would be nothing to talk about. In other shorter words........this kind of forum would not work here(USA).
