Differences in UK and US........

One different that really stood out to me after visiting the US was the standard of service in shops restraunts and hotels etc...

I find far too many of our people are pig ignorant...does anyone under the age of 18 over here know what 'please' and 'thank you' mean?...are our shop staff able to pass the time of day while serving us?...the film National Lampoon European Vacation sums it up...at first I though it was funny...then I realsied how true it was!

Funniest thing of all is...we accept it!

The Americans like the germans expect good service...and they get it...we neither give it ...nor moan about it when someone serves us in a shop...doesnt say please...thank you or kiss me a**e...

I cringe when i saw tourists here...spending their poor exchange rate money and being treated like pigs by pigs..

Shameful

the further south you go, the more this is true. It is called "southern hospitality" and we (southerners) were raised this way. There will always be exceptions.......however from what I hear...it isn't this way in the northern states (generally speaking)

have you ever heard of grits? (southern food dish)

here's an obvious difference.....we have Super Bowl Sunday!
also.......cable TV ......satellite radio.....nothing to watch on TV, but have over 300 channels to choose from, go figure. Vintage...anything vintage is big now. the more chipped, peeling, tattered, and beaten a thing is, it's called "character" and obsessed over.

Dumb question perhaps, but while we're talking about distinctions, is Wales a separate and distinct country from England, just like Ireland and Scotland?

Pardon my ignorance. It's hereditary. No one in my family knows the answer to that question.

Also, who (whom) does the Isle of Man belong to?

No. Wales is not a country, it's a principality.

Area of a Kingdom ruled by a Prince and Princess, who swear an oath of loyalty to the King and Queen. May become a Kingdom in its own right some day, or remain as a permanent Principality. Must have at least 150 full members, and usually involves 500-2000 people.

In our case we (the Welsh) have been subjugated by the English and have Charles Prince of Wales and (the late) Diana Princes of Wales thrust upon us

Don't see us becoming a Kingdom again in the near future :( :( :(

alas another difference.......we don't have a Queen-not in the same way of what we're talking about here.
