Lad I was working with was from Enfield 25 years ago but still got his accent.
Thought I was posh because I didn't sound like Jimmy Tarbuck or Cilla Black and didn't go round calling everyone 'wack'.
Oh, and I also said 'please' and 'thank you' to the canteen staff!

Thats a good point conny. Because I dont 'speak' Scottish now, Im assumed not to be.

I speak politely, with manners. I guess that now Im in London, Im a southern poof.

Ill live with it.

Paul.

Might be a southern softie to some but I'm north of any where south of here so I'm a northerner to.

I can't stand people saying Pasty instead of pasty or scone instead of scone. and then those people in Devon putting the jam under the cream! whats that all about!

In Brum they don't conjugate the verb "to be" correctly, I am, you am, we am etc.

the loud one, trying to talk to everyone in a an annoying silly northern dialect, whilst petting his whippet, saying how wonderful it is up T North and how the ale is better up T North, yet he is still standing down here in a southern pub drinling southern beer

How to spot a southerner in a northern pub....

you wont, we know where we are better off in a nice warm pub in the south rather than being up in the ****e north where its cold and horrible and people cant speak the queens english

You are confusing Brummies with Black Country folk such as Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall etc.

I don't have a hang up with accents per se (scouse is a bit harsh) it is just the 'wiv fing' i can't stand.
