Do you eat bacon?

I've always really enjoyed bacon but haven't bought it for ages. Have got back into it, just run of the mill smoked stuff from Asda.

I'm limiting myself to 3-4 rashers a week, grilled, eaten in one go on toast with tomato ketchup.

As with many things, you read some negative stuff about bacon, hence me limiting myself as above.

Do you eat bacon, if yes what type and roughly how many rashers do you consume per week?

For me it's 1 of those things that smells better than it tastes.

Bacon egg and sausage in a roll, probably once a month

Butchers bacon, cooked until the fat renders properly. In a tea cake “bread roll” a dash of pepper and a tea with one sugar.

2-3 times a month.
Sounds good.
 
Used to eat plenty of it but Mrs Mottie don’t half go on about the dangers of eating it! Probably have a pack of reduced salt smoked back bacon every 2 or 3 weeks. I did once start making my own. Might think about giving it another go.


Do a search on 'bacon' under my name and you'd think I have it twice a day, every day! :ROFLMAO:
 
I can take it or leave it but occasionally we'll have breakfast out, mrs filly will have something like eggs benedict, I'll go for a full english which wouldn't be the same without bacon and maybe some black pudding.

Where it gets silly, is when you've placed yourself in a situation where you can't have bacon, or it's difficult to find. Like when I lived in Israel.
After 4 or 5 months on a kibbutz I virtually became a vegetarian, I'd occasionally have some chicken if it looked burnt enough but any other meat was playing russian roulette on wether you'd cop for a bout of dysentery. Obviously Pork or Bacon were off the menu anyway.
SO, one night, couldn't sleep, probably the heat or worrying about Syrian rockets, so I went out for a wander. No lights other than the moon but I walked for about ten minutes and suddenly got a whiff of bacon, fried bacon, rashers. I kept walking, sniffing like a dog as the smell got stronger and stronger. Eventually, I saw a light on in what was the guard room, most of the kibbutzniks were army reserves, were well armed and patrolled at night, I knocked on the door, went in and the buggers had a few loaves of bread, some blue band marge and a frying pan full of low quality streaky bacon. I had at least 4 sarnies, they asked me to keep it quiet, probably one of the best meals of my life.
