Driver less cars, does this mean I will not need a driving licence?

Did I really say all that? I seem to remember the final exam as a motor technician did include a transport managers qualification, never did get my IMI, I moved across and joined the IET instead, as I had side stepped to being an auto-electrician, then electrician.

But dropped membership for IET as well, specially when I realised they had increased the fees they took without asking me.

Be it a domestic electrician scheme membership or a HGV licence you need to use them to be worth while, and so I have never used them enough to be worth it. UK wagon driving I would say I drove a HGV around 20 times. Abroad a bit more, but not sure what I could do today anyway, as well as UK licence I also have other British licence which is for life, and covers all.

I have to admit I'm kind of hoping the technology and required infrastructure is available, within the price range of the average person, and robust enough come 2045-50ish. By then I'll be an old codger and could be coming towards the end of my driving life. If the technology exists by then to keep me on the road I'll be happy

Depends where you live. If you're in a city / town I can see the technology becoming reliable enough to navigate around them. If you live in a rural area then I'm much less optimistic that the vehicles will be able to satisfactorily cope with the comparatively poor conditions.
