Interesting snippet in that report -

"In the last year, the [Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue] service logged 277 fires in road vehicles, three of which were categorised as electric or hybrid."

Seems this "explosion" blew one of the rear wheels clean off, but it came to rest against the rear quarter panel.

I mean, if it had been (say) barely 10 feet from (say) a garage door, or (say) another car, they'd have been sure to go up with it, wouldn't they? There would have been absolutely nothing left of either of them if an EV had gone up (sorry, "exploded") that close to them, would there...? ;)
Hmm.

In the interests of trying to remain in the land of facts etc, and not jumping to conclusions, the photo was taken after the fire, possibly some time after as it was about 3 weeks ago, so that wheel could have been retrieved and propped up there, the garage door and surround has taken a bit of a beating, and the car in the background must have arrived after.

There's always the Ignore button.

If he hasn't already done it.

But that's just the forum equivalent of this

Seems this "explosion" blew one of the rear wheels clean off, but it came to rest against the rear quarter panel. Very strange burn pattern too

The Fire Brigade, using one of their vehicles, dragged the burning vehicle away from the house to prevent further damage to the house. This dragging caused the wheel to detatch and to be where it is in that picture.

My ICE, perfectly matches my needs and expectations, as I expected it would. Just yesterday, beginning with a full tank of diesel, it towed my 1.5 ton caravan, 70 miles, effortlessly, and the gauge only just moved off the F mark. We'll be touring around for the week, and yet in 7 days, I fully expect to tow back home, and still have most of that fuel remaining in the tank, with no need to keep topping up, worries about finding charging stations (there are none at all to be found here).
Who has ever said ev's are suitable for all?

Not having 1 yourself is not the same as spreading false information about them to others.

But diesel and petrol is not the future regardless

What parameters are used to decide into which category a burning vehicle should be placed.

Does a vehicle that self ignites when it is parked off the road get categorised as a fire in a road vehicle ?
